ARCITO bringing proposal to restore the Calhoun County Indian Tribal Office in the New Year

Posted by Hodalee Scott Sewell on November 17, 2017 at 3:20 PM

The tribe has been without an office in Calhoun for over a decade and is actively seeking to restore the office once there. Some may remember the former Indian Tribal Office on the 3rd floor of the New Courthouse for over a decade, my grandmother Sallie Kever was the Tribal Office Secretary during those years and with her death, we lost this valuable office space for providing the services we did to our Calhoun County citizens. The tribe had Indian language classes there taught by myself or others for over 30 years, and many projects were conducted from that office over the years. We would like to resume that good work once again with the help of the Calhoun County Commission.
